The Last of Us

The Last of Us. A game developed by Naughty dog and exclusively published for PlayStation. This game revolves around a very strong story. It is an action adventure game that contains a certain percentage of horror genres.

In this game, the player gets to play as the main character known as Joel. Joel is a single father who loses is 12 years old daughter who got shot while attempting to escape from sudden outbreak of zombies.

After many years, Joel works with Tess in a quarantine zone. Their arms dealer has traded their weaponries to rebel group known as Fireflies. Tess and Joel meet one of the rebels and she promises them double the trade if they deliver a teenage girl to the allocated destination. Joel and Tess agree upon seeing their traded goods as evidences.

From here onwards, player’s duty is to protect Ellie, the girl they have to deliver and tries to bring her safely across to her destination. The player has to uses the skills learnt to avoid obstacles like zombies, the military and others.

There are four types of zombies. They are stalkers, clickers, runners and bloaters. To me, I personally feel that the clickers are the worst types of zombies ever. I can endure all types of zombies except clickers. They literally annoy me the most.

To be honest, I am still going through the game and not anywhere near the end. However, I have gone through sufficient progression to understand the game mechanics. The game mechanics are pretty straight forward once you get used to it.

However, if you do not play the game consistently, you might need to refer to the control page again. There are quite a lot of controls you have to remember in order to survive in the game. This game requires skills to go pass smoothly.

If you do not have quick reflexes, this game might be a little challenging for you. My reflexes are not that good; therefore, I die a little bit more frequently than expected. However, I still play it for the plot.

The plot is really good. Yes, it is a typical zombie apocalypse situation. However, the types of zombies and how the story goes so smoothly with the gameplay mixes in well. They do not over go into details of the story.

They go on surface, but also ensure that we know sufficient information to understand the story. Honestly, I am only playing for the game for the graphics and also the underlying story that is known for.

The game mechanics are good too but it doesn’t suit my style. I also like the game for its level design. The levels are well detailed on how the world would like in zombie apocalypse.  I have few zombie world games like Left for Dead 1 and 2. Compared to that, The Last of Us seems more realistic with their level design.

The level design also have sufficient clues for the players to pick up and go with it. Also if the player is stuck, player could press L3 (The joystick) to get a hint.

To be honest, I can’t wait to finish the game so that I will know the full story and also on other parts of the level. To me, I am glad that I owe a copy of the game. It’s currently the outstanding game in my PS3 game library.
